Dr. Ernest Rex Tan 

Dr. Nancy Wong

Dr. Nancy Wong, a graduate of the National University of Singapore, received her Bachelor Degree in Dental Surgery in 1991. Having been in practice for 16 years, she has special interests in treating children, patients with root canal problems and patients needing dentures.

Dr. Wong finds it exceptionally challenging to build rapport with her young patients, and derives great satisfaction in assisting these children in eliminating their dental fears. In areas of root canal procedures, Dr. Wong finds fulfilment in terminating pain arising from root canal problems.
Dr. Kenneth Hangchi

Dr. Kenneth Hangchi has over forty years of private practice experience. As one of the earliest dental practitioners in Singapore to be granted recognition by private hospitals to admit and treat patients, he has been very popular with patients prefering dental treatment in a private hospital environment. Given Dr. Kenneth Hangchi's proficiency in many areas of dentistry: restorative dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, periodontics, orthodontics and paedodontics, his is regarded by many as being a well-rounded dental practitioner.

His proficiency is also evident in his handling of many complex cases such as oral surgery or paedodontics under general anaesthetic in private hospitals. Given his gentle and patient demeanour, Dr. Kenneth Hangchi is well liked by patients, young and old.
Dr. Alvin Yeo

Fellow of International Team of Implantology (ITI)

Dr. Alvin Yeo, a Consultant Periodontist at the Restorative Department (Periodontics Unit) of the National Dental Centre, Singapore, joined   Dental Surgeons as a Visiting Consultant in February 2010.

Dr. Yeo also assumes the positions of a Clinician Scientist at SingHealth as well as a Senior Research Fellow at the SingHealth Experimental Medicine Centre, Singapore General Hospital. He previously held the position of Adjunct Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering in National University Singapore from 2005-2009.

Dr. Alvin Yeo received his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S.) degree from the National University of Singapore in 1997. He graduated in Periodontics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA in 2003 with a Certificate in Periodontics and a Masters of Science (M.S.) degree in Oral Biology. Dr. Yeo was conferred Fellow in the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (F.A.M.S.) in 2007. In April 2010, Dr. Yeo was awarded a Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from the University of Groningen, Netherlands, after successfully defending his Ph.D. thesis entitled “Novel Polycaprolactone-Tricalcium Phosphate (PCL-TCP) Scaffolds Customized for Reconstruction of Dentoalveolar Deformities.”

Dr. Alvin Yeo was presented the Exxon-Mobil Research Fellowship Award in May 2007. In 2006, he was awarded the SingHealth Clinician Scientist Scheme and the SingHealth Foundation Mentorship Programme Grant (2006-2010). In 2003, he received the International Team of Implantology (ITI) Fellowship to pursue a 1-year attachment in the Oral Surgery and Stomatology Department at the University of Bern, Switzerland as a Visiting Research Fellow (2003-2004). Dr. Yeo also received the Financial Year 1999 Human Management Development Program (FY99 HMDP) Fellowship to further his Postgraduate training in Periodontics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2000-2003).

Dr. Yeo’s major clinical and research interests include the evaluation of novel biomaterials and scaffolds for dentoalveolar ridge augmentation and dental implant related therapy. In addition, Dr. Yeo has extensive clinical experience in the management of periodontal disease both surgically and non-surgically. Dr. Yeo holds several positions in organizations and committees locally and internationally. Dr. Yeo is also involved in the teaching of the Postgraduate Periodontics Program. Dr. Alvin Yeo has several publications in peer-reviewed journals and has recently co-authored an Implant Surgical Guidebook. He lectures actively both locally and regionally on topics related to Periodontology and Implant Dentistry.
Dr. Frank Lee Kong Fei

Adjunct Lecturer, Faculty of Dentistry, National University of Singapore

Dr. Frank Lee Kong Fei, a Dental Specialist in Prosthodontics, obtained his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S.) degree from the National University of Singapore in 1997, and garnered a specialist postgraduate degree in Prosthodontics at the National University of Singapore in 2004. A Fellow in the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (F.A.M.S.), Dr. Frank Lee is also a member in both the Prosthodontic Society of Singapore and the Singapore Dental Association.

Dr. Frank Lee has been in private practice as an Associate Specialist Prosthodontist since 2007. Dr. Lee also currently serves as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Faculty of Dentistry of the National University of Singapore, and has been a Visiting Consultant at the Alexandra Hospital since 2007. Dr. Lee was a Registrar at the National Dental Centre between the years 2004-2007, and a Resident at the National University of Singapore between the years 2001-2004. Dr. Lee also worked as an Associate General Practitioner in private practice between 1999-2001, and as a Dental Officer in Community Dental Service between 1997-1999.

Dr. Lee worked on “Critical Bending Moment of 4 Implant-abutment Interface Designs” for his Master’s research thesis at the National University of Singapore in 2004, and produced the said and a Position Paper, Current Concepts of Immediate Implant Loading, in 2004. Dr. Lee is currently working with the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants on an article on Implantology to be published in 2010.
M.Sc. Endodontics (LONDON, U.K.)

Dr. Azlan Daud, a specialist in Endodontics, graduated from the National University of S'pore in 1993. Following the completion of his dental degree, Dr. Daud was enlisted in the Spore Armed Forces and completed the training to become a Dental Officer. His role was to then run a dental centre for a military battalion. Dr. Daud was also actively involved in overseas military exercises supporting the medical staff of the battalion.

Following his stint in the military, which concluded in 1995, Dr. Daud became a private practitioner for the next five years before embarking on his specialist training in London.

Dr. Daud was accepted to pursue his post-graduate degree in Endodontics at the prestigious Eastman Dental Institute for Healthcare Sciences, which is internationally renowned for high-end research in the field of Endodontic Microbiology. It was there that his involvement in microbiology began, which saw him being involved in advanced research focussing on the bacteria associated with endodontic failures. The research was given excellent recognition which saw Dr. Daud being awarded a Distinction Award and subsequently presenting his research to the European Society in Endodontology, in Munich. Dr Daud also achieved a Distinction in Clinical Endodontics and graduated in 2002.

Upon his return from London, his involvement in the endodontic scene continued, He was enlisted as a Specialist Endodontist at the Military Medicine Academy and was involved in the management of complex endodontic cases. His background in endodontic microbiology also allowed him to be recruited as a part-time lecturer at the Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Restorative Dentistry (Endodontics), National University of S'pore.  In the field of academia, Dr. Daud was involved in both post-graduate and under-graduate teaching up to 2005.

Dr. Daud migrated to New Zealand in 2005 where he runs a Restricted Practice to Endodontics up to this date. Dr. Daud continues to visit Singapore each quarter where he practices at Singapore as a Consultant in Endodontics. He continues to have a special interest in non-surgical endodontic re-treatment.


Dr Wansanatha Bulugahapitiya "Nath", is a senior dental surgeon with over 20 years of clinical experience. Dr Nath qualified from the University of Sheffield in 1989, following which he worked in the teaching hospital at Sheffield, gaining vast experience particularly in the fields of surgical and restorative dentistry as Sheffield was the pioneering centre for dental implantology in the United Kingdom.

Following this, he went into general practice in Cambridge for the next two and half years, where he gained extensive experience in comprehensive dentistry. Dr Nath then had a sabbatical for 18 months in the Dept of Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine, University of Melbourne Dental School, (Australia), further improving his skills in oral surgery and oral medicine.

Dr. Nath returned to the UK, into general practice for the next 11 years between Oxford and Nottingham where he practiced and gained experience in surgical, restorative and aesthetic dentistry. From 2005 to date, he has been in Singapore, where he has built up a thriving multi disciplinary, interactive, patient focused practice.

Dr Nath believes in continual professional development as modern dentistry is a constantly evolving profession. His main area of interest and clinical expertise lies in conservative restorative dentistry (eg. crown & bridgework, full mouth rehabilitations), prosthodontic implantology, and aesthetic dentistry. His clinical experience has enabled him to gain experience and skills in managing apprehensive and nervous patients. Dr Nath practices multidisciplinary, interactive dentistry for the benefit of his patients and to achieve his own high clinical standards.

Dr. Ng Yuk Ching
M.D.S. Endodontics (SINGAPORE)

Dr. Ng Yuk Ching, a Dental Specialist in Endodontics, obtained her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S.) degree from the National University of Singapore in 2004. She graduated in Endodontics with a Master of Dental Surgery (M.D.S.) and a Membership in Restorative Dentistry, Royal College of Surgeons (M.R.D.R.C.S.) (Edinburgh) in 2009. Dr. Ng was conferred Fellow in the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (F.A.M.S.) in 2012.

Upon graduation, Dr. Ng served as a Dental Officer with the School Dental Service and the National Dental Centre from 2004-2006 and a Resident at the National University Hospital and National Dental Centre, Singapore from 2006-2009. She was appointed a Registrar at the National Dental Centre, Singapore from 2009 and was promoted to an Associate Consultant in 2012. Dr. Ng is currently a Visiting Specialist in Endodontics at the National Dental Centre, Singapore.

Dr. Ng was awarded 1st Place at the Dentsply Asia Student Clinicians Competition for her project entitled ‘In Site Evaluation of Laser Effect on the Prevention of Enamel Demineralization Using an Intra-Oral Model’ in 2003 and following that, represented South-East Asia in the International Dentsply Student Clinician Programme at the 2004 American Dental Association Annual Meeting in Florida.

Dr. Ng’s clinical and research interests include management of endodontic complications and dental traumatic injuries. She previously worked on her Master’s research thesis on ‘Interleukin 8: Cellular and Extracellular Expression following Delayed Tooth Replantation in a Canine Model’ and the findings were presented at the 8th World Congress of the International Federation of Endodontic Associations (IFEA) in Greece and the 17th World Congress in Dental Traumatology in Brazil.

M.D.S. Periodontology (SINGAPORE)
Visiting Consultant (National Dental Centre, Singapore)

Dr. Christina Cheok obtained both her Bachelors of Dental Surgery in 2002, and her Masters in Periodontology in 2008, from the National University of Singapore. Dr. Cheok also attained her Membership in Restorative Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, U.K. and is registered on the Singapore Specialist Register. She is conferred a Fellow in the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS) in 2012 and is a member of the Society of Periodontology Singapore. Dr. Cheok was also privileged to have undergone a clinical attachment in the University of Berne, Switzerland in 2004.

In addition to attending to periodontal cases at Dental Surgeons, Dr. Cheok also assumes the position of a Visiting Consultant in the Restorative Department (Periodontics Unit) at the National Dental Centre Singapore (NDCS), Singapore. Dr. Cheok was previously supervisor-in-charge of the Oral Health Therapist and Head of the General Dentistry Department at NDCS. She currently teaches part-time and is part of the teaching faculty of the NUS Periodontology Residency Training Programme at NDCS and the Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) Oral Health Therapist Clinical Programme.

Dr. Cheok provides a comprehensive range of periodontal therapy such as gum treatment, grafting procedures, aesthetic and dental implant procedures. She has a special interest in regenerative procedures of the gum and bone. Her gentleness and patience enabled her to better manage apprehensive patients.

Dr. Cheok is an active speaker in both local and overseas conferences. Her research interests include evaluation of the relationship between periodontal disease and systemic diseases. She was awarded 2nd prize at the International Dental Exhibition and Meeting (IDEM) in 2008 for the presentation of her research thesis entitled “Tumour Necrosis Factor –Alpha in Diabetic and Healthy Individuals with Untreated Periodontal Disease”. She also presented her research at the EuroPerio 2009 in Sweden.
